Summaries SA – Melanie Eyssell
Melanie Eyssell, a passionate educator and devoted mother, founded SummariesSA in 2018 when her eldest daughter transitioned into grade 4. As she searched the internet for effective study materials to bridge the significant gap between grade 3 and grade 4, she quickly became disappointed by both the quality and affordability of the resources available. Realizing there was a lack of suitable study aids, Melanie took matters into her own hands. She began creating her own summaries and worksheets designed specifically to assist her daughter in navigating the new curriculum challenges
How it all started
Curious about the struggles of other parents in similar situations, she reached out to the community, and the overwhelming response was incredible. It became clear to Melanie that there was a substantial demand for high-quality study materials that catered to learners from grade 4 all the way to grade 12. Thus, SummariesSA was born and has been thriving ever since.
Expanding her reach
Since its inception, the website has grown remarkably. Initially, it featured only a handful of subjects for grade 4 and was available exclusively in Afrikaans. However, recognizing the diverse needs of students and parents, Melanie expanded the platform to encompass a wide range of grades and subjects, now offered in both Afrikaans and English. In addition to study summaries and worksheets, SummariesSA has broadened its offerings to include exam papers complete with memorandums, providing even more comprehensive support for students preparing for assessments.
Today, the organization boasts a dedicated team of five full-time employees who are committed to enhancing the educational experience for learners. With over 7,500 subscribers to their newsletters, more than 8,000 likes on Facebook, and an impressive collection of over 6,000 positive reviews on their website, www.summariessa.co.za.
