WearCheck - Steven Lara-Lee Lumley
Biography
Steven Lara-Lee Lumley is the Technical Manager at condition monitoring specialist company, WearCheck, where she leads the company’s oil analysis research and development strategy as well as training initiatives. With over 29 years of experience in the oil analysis industry, Steven is a recognised subject-matter expert in the fields of tribology and oil analysis.
She holds a National Technical Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and is a Honeywell Aerospace Certified Tribologist and Certified Level II Machinery Lubricant Analyst.
Steven joined WearCheck in 2008 as a diagnostician and worked her way up to the position of senior diagnostician, during which time she diagnosed her millionth used oil sample in addition to running oil analysis training courses for customers in several countries. In 2015, Steven was promoted to the position of Technical Manager – a position which she still holds to this day.
Steven is based in the company’s head office in Durban. WearCheck operates a network of 16 laboratories in nine countries across Africa and beyond.
Achievements
Steven has authored many published papers and articles on different scientific condition monitoring techniques. In addition, she has received numerous industry awards, including the South African Institute of Tribology (SAIT) Best Technical Presentation Award in 2023
